A Week in Scottish Borders North Sea Area

Our first stop enroute to Eyemouth was Hermitage Castle.

Maggie and I stayed for a wonderful week in Eyemouth, a lovely fishing village on the North Sea in the Scottish Borders area.
St. Abb's Head - wonderful coastal walk.
We stayed in the first floor flat of the dark stone building (built in 1704). We could not have been any closer to harbour or a source of fresh fish - fish shop is on ground floor of the building.
Lindisfarne priory considered the seat of Christianity in northern England.

Old herring boats cut in half, turned upside down and converted into fishing gear storage sheds.
Cragside House near Rothbury England. This amazing house was built by the Armstrong family in the mid 1800's. It is the first house in England to be wired for electricity. Well worth a visit.

Farne Island bird sanctuary - over 500,000 birds breed here every year.

Lighthouse at Farne Islands. There are approximately 500 shipwrecks in and around the Farne Islands. Most of these shipwrecks occured before the days of the modern lighthouse.
Bamburgh Castle south of Berwick-on-Tweed northeast England. This splendid castle was completely rebuilt in the 1800's and is well worth a visit. The Armstrong family lived in the castle until just recently.

Magnificant Bluebells - Casterton, Cumbria UK
