Georgian Bay 2010

Maggie and I went on our wilderness canoe trip on Georgian Bay this year along the shores of Philip Edward Island near Killarney. We had a mix of sun and rain and lots of wind but still managed to have fun. The lichen and rock patterns always make for great photography.

Grasmere

The village of Grasmere plus some frosty white fields in the valley as seen from 450 meters.

Grasmere had a light covering of ice creating some nice visual effects.

Hutton Roof Fog

Hutton Roof is a relatively small hill near Kirkby Lonsdale which provides a view of the surrounding countryside. Today there were beautiful views of fog and mist in the valleys below.

Here is a picture of the Lake District taken from Yorkshire more than 40km away. January 01 was an exceptionally clear day to start the New Year.

Near Brother's Water in Lake District

On a clear crsip day Maggie and I walked up Hartsop Above How near Brothers Water. Here is one of the many views we had on the way up.

Looking down to Brothers Water and the fields below.

Once you are high enough, the little ponds usually stay frozen even if it is quite warm in the valleys.

Down from the hills we went along to Ullswater where we were treated to some wonderful reflections and views in the late day sun.

Morning Mist

Kirkby Lonsdale in the morning mist. The view changed every few seconds.

Bullpot Rod just east of Kirkby Lonsdale presented us with wonderful and ever changing misty images.

The fog spilled over into the Barbondale gap and treated us to more amazing misty images.
